The Process:

Commercial Glasshouse Contracts Ltd provided a comprehensive solution tailored to address the specific needs of Woodbeare Nurseries Ltd:

  • Removal of Existing Roof: We removed the roof in order to replace the gutters with reconditioned AP Venlo gutters, which had been fully re-painted.
  • Vent System Rewire – The vent system was rewired to ensure optimal functionality and safety, to include new wire rope, new bulldog clips, new vent wires, new tensioners and new pulley wheels.
  • U Pan Handle: This was replaced along with the work scheduled.
  • Reinstallation of Roof:  We then reinstalled the roof with the original panes having been cleaned, and replaced any broken or cracked panes with new.

The Result:

The implemented solutions led to significant improvements:

  • Enhanced Rainwater Management: By removing the existing roof and replacing the gutters, we improved both the structural integrity and water management of the glasshouse. The new gutters are more durable and efficient, reducing the risk of water damage and preventing blockages or leaks. This ensured better drainage, helping to maintain a more stable and optimal environment for the plants, and potentially reducing the frequency of maintenance required in the future.
  • Safety & Efficiency:  The rewiring of the vent system was a crucial upgrade that enhanced both safety and efficiency.
  • Aesthetic & Operational Efficiency:  The reinstallation of the roof, with original panes cleaned and broken or cracked panes replaced, improved both the aesthetic and operational efficiency of the glasshouse. Clean panes allow more natural light to filter through, which is critical for plant growth, while replacing damaged panes improves insulation and prevents drafts or water ingress.
