About the Project:
Client: David Austin Roses
Our client, David Austin Roses, is a leading commercial nursery based in the heart of the Shropshire, UK. With acres of farmland and expansive collection of greenhouse space, they specialise in growing a wide range of English Roses, serving both retail and wholesale markets.
David Austin Roses contacted us to assist in the replacement of broken and cracked glass in the roof and sides of all Venlo and Cambridge glasshouses on their site.
- Glazing: Replacement of over 250 glass panes

The Process:
Commercial Glasshouse Contracts Ltd provided a comprehensive solution tailored to address the specific needs of David Austin Roses:
- Re-Glazing: Damaged and cracked panes were replaced with new horticultural glass measuring 1650x730x4mm. This upgrade significantly improved the structure’s insulation and energy efficiency.
- Materials: All necessary materials and parts were supplied for the project, including glazing clips, gutter clips, silicone, repair bars, and other associated components required for the work.
- Delivery: We coordinated the prior delivery of all materials to the site, ensuring we were on hand to ensure that they were received, checked and safely stored.

The Result:
The implemented solutions led to significant improvements:
- Enhanced Energy Efficiency: The new glazing and insulation reduced energy costs. This upgrade not only lowers operational expenses but also contributes to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly facility.
- Improved Plant Health: By replacing damaged glazing, the glasshouse now maintains a stable and consistent growing environment. The improved conditions will sustain plant health and increase yields.
- Reduced Maintenance Costs: The replacement of damaged glass has enhanced the structural integrity of the glasshouse, minimising the likelihood of further breakages. This improvement has led to a reduction in ongoing maintenance costs and the associated disruptions, providing a long-term return on investment.
